National Accounts for Dynamics 365 Business Central – User Questions Answered

Nov 20, 2025

National Accounts has long been a missing component of Dynamics 365 Business Central, which is why the team at iSolutions developed an app that brings the functionality directly into the system. We’ve compiled some of the most frequently asked questions about the app here to help you understand how the functionality works within Business Central. If you have additional questions, please reach out to our team and we’ll be happy to help. You may even end up seeing your question added here.

What’s available out-of-the-box for National Accounts in Business Central?

Business Central only provides a Bill-to Contact field, which doesn’t handle parent/child accounting. iSolutions adds true parent/child linking, payment allocation, and correct ledger posting.

Is National Accounts built in the Bank Deposits window?

No. It’s similar, but it’s built off the Customer Payment Registration screen, not the Bank Deposit window.

Does information from National Accounts flow through to an aging report?

Yes. All entries post to the Customer Ledger, so they appear on standard BC aging reports. A dedicated National Accounts aging report is planned.

Can we use National Accounts to make all payments so we don’t have to enter deposits in two places?

You could, but the payment screen only works on National Accounts. You must process payments national account by national account.

Do we need to separate checks if some customers are National Accounts and others are regular accounts?

Yes — the payment registration window only displays National Accounts and their children.

How does National Accounts affect bank reconciliation? Will it create multiple entries?

No — one bank ledger entry is created for the full deposit amount, matching the bank statement.

Can credit card or ACH payments be split between child accounts?

Not yet. This is a roadmap item and credit card integration is a high priority.

How do we load the National Accounts app into BC?

Install National Accounts from AppSource. The app works in sandbox without a reg key. When you’re ready to push it into your live environment, reach out to our team and we’ll get you set up.
