Business Central Developer

As an ideal candidate, you know Business Central well. You use your historical experience of Business Central (and NAV) to guide your inner model of the ERP’s foundational workings. You know how Business Central’s ORM interacts with its underlying RDBMS. You have learned about the hidden “gotchas” and “pitfalls” and know how to avoid them or turn them into advantages.

You are paying attention to new development changes within Business Central’s product and seeking to understand how you can incorporate similar problem-solving patterns into their own development. You saw the inversion of control in the new Rest Client. You noted the façade pattern in the new No. Series implementation. You were intrigued by the factory pattern in the Shopify app.

You can also skillfully begin with incomplete requirements or user stories, guide rounds of discovery and analysis, then develop and deliver accurate, robust, intuitive, maintainable and extensible solutions. You can also successfully navigate brownfield development to find and fix flaws and contribute to its progressive enhancement and modernization.

Key Responsibilities

 

• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to design and implement solutions that align with business requirements, leveraging modern development techniques and best practices to drive business success.
• Leverage modern software patterns and practices to create modular, maintainable, and scalable systems that align with the business domain.
• Apply a holistic approach to performing risk and impact analyses and incorporating learnings into solutions.
• Work with business analysts and end-users to translate business requirements into technical designs.
• Take ownership of solutions from concept to completion.
• Develop and customize Microsoft Business Central solutions according to client specifications using AL, HTML/JavaScript/CSS and other relevant languages.
• Integrate and Consume REST APIs into Business Central, ensuring smooth data exchange and synchronization between external systems.
• Create and execute quality assurance tests on solutions to ensure the code meets functional and technical requirements including unit, behavioral, integration and end-to-end tests.
• Maintain, troubleshoot, fix, optimize and modernize existing solutions and integrations.
• Stay up to date with the latest trends and advancements in Microsoft Business Central and related technologies.

Required Qualifications

 

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
• 5+ years of experience developing in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central/NAV.
• Strong proficiency in AL and deep experience with the Business Central ERP and its development environment and ecosystem.
• Proven experience with modern software development practices, CI/CD, Git, and Agile methodologies.
• Demonstrated understanding of modern software and architecture patterns and practices and how to apply them to Business Central.
• Strong experience in consuming and integrating REST APIs within Business Central.
• Knowledge of Business Central’s ORM/RDBMS model and the ability to write optimized and resilient queries.
• Experience with various Azure services, such as Blob Storage, and Power Platform tools, such as Power Automate and Power Apps, is a plus.
